Resolution passed against the arrest of publishers, editors

Thousands gathered to commemorate the first death anniversary of thespian Gurshraan Singh on Sunday (September 23) at Jagraon passed a resolution against the arrest of two Punjabi publishers and two editors for reprinting old books of poet Babu Rajab Ali which allegedly contained some then used caste names, under the Prevention of Atrocities Against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act.

Here is the text of resolution:
We the people gathered in function in the memory of thespian Gursharan Singh understand that arrest of Mr. Amit Mittar of Tark Bharti Prakashan and Mr. Ashok Garg of Sangam Publication, Samana and editors of the book Mr. Jagjeet Singh Sahoke from Moga and Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Swatantar from Samana is a condemnable act.
We are of the firm view that these publishers It is an established fact that these publishers have been publishing the progressive literature for around two decades. Everybody knows that the  poems of Babu Rajab Ali were just reproduced by these publishers.  Babu Rajab Ali’s poetry is an integral part of Punjabi literature. It is an irresponsible act of the state government, so we condemn it.
The result of such acts will yield serious consequences for future of publication business in Punjab. All four should be release immediately and the cases against them should be dropped.
